Jammu, Jul 02 (KNO): Ahead of the Assembly elections Jammu and Kashmir Congress party is all set to get a boost as three Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) leaders are all set to re-join Congress party in upcoming days. These leaders include former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Uri Taj Mohiddin, former MLA Shangus Gulzar Ahmed Wani and former MLA Doda Abdul Majeed Wani. Sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they have contacted party leadership in New Delhi and during the recent meeting between party high command and Congress leaders from Jammu and Kashmir it was conveyed that all the three leaders want to come back into the party. “Now things are being put in order to welcome these leaders into the party and party leaders who were against joining these leaders are being convinced to agree to the decision of high command,” a source said. Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Viqar Rasool Wani told KNO, “Yes, these leaders have approached the party high command in New Delhi and they may be re-joining the Congress party soon.” Talking to KNO, Taj Mohiddin said, “I have no plans yet and continue to be part of DPAP. But if we have to go, it will not be a secret affair and will go openly.” A senior Congress party leader told KNO that earlier these leaders had approached the state leadership to allow them to re-join the party but many leaders refused citing their anti-Congress party activity and working with the forces who wanted to weaken the party in the union territory. “Former MLA from Doda Abdul Majeed Wani was willing to join the party for some time but PCC leaders resisted his joining. They were of the opinion that during the recently concluded Parliamentary elections Wani worked against Congress party and had managed to cut a few votes which helped the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) candidate to win from Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat,” the party leader said. Now, all the three leaders have used their past contacts within the Congress party in New Delhi to convince the party leadership of their allegiance towards the party. “They told party leadership that joining DPAP was a mistake, which they want to correct now,” said another leader—(KNO)
